KOPPIE ALLEEN De Hoop
Nature
Reserve,
Western Cape |
| De Hoop Nature Reserve is situated just three hours’
drive from Cape Town on the world-renowned Garden and
Whale Routes. The 36 000 hectares of De Hoop
conservation area is a World Heritage Site comprising
rich biodiversity and by over 70 kilometres of pristine
coastline. With its remote location, towering white
dunes and pristine rock-pools on the shoreline offering
a wonderland of tiny eco-systems, Koppie Alleen is the
ideal getaway for families or small groups seeking a
unique location. |
| Nestled amongst the magnificent fynbos, and home to
countless birds and antelope, Koppie Alleen has the
elusive combination of privacy and direct access to the
sandy beaches. Built in the local fisherman-style, the
cottage boasts four-poster beds with crisp white linen
and mosquito netting. The Mediterranean-style living
area has a huge indoor fireplace for chilly Cape
winters. The protected outdoor area looks onto the
beach, with sun-loungers, umbrellas and barbecue area
for alfresco dinning and relaxation. Evenings spent at
Koppie Alleen recall a time when the romance of
firelight and paraffin lanterns was commonplace. |
| De Hoop offers a complete and diverse range of
activities and experiences. As a protected Marine
Reserve, De Hoop offers one of the best and most
accessible locations to view whales in the world. The
diversity of eco-systems from the coast, sand dunes,
rare fynbos plants, wetlands and the Potberg Mountains
is enthralling to nature lovers. De Hoop offers great
opportunities for whale watching (including the
multi-day Whale trail), birding, hiking various day
walks, mountain biking along the many gravel roads,
horse riding or scenic game drives. Opstal also has a
tennis court, swimming pool and a boules courtyard.
Alternatively, lazing on the beach or snorkelling in one
of the many turquoise rock pools is simply another way
to pass a rewarding day. |
